Pubs of the South East, or rather ‘The Famous & Historical Pubs of the South East,’ is a book that was first published in 1992, 21 years ago this year. The book covered some of the finest drinking establishments of the South Eastern counties of Ireland. The highroads and ‘back-roads’ of counties’ Waterford, Wexford and Kilkenny were dutifully explored to produce an interesting and entertaining account of early nineties’ Ireland, from the perspective of the high stool.
Over the coming weeks and months we will be revisiting some of the 33 hostelries originally covered and we will be examining once more the relevance of the pub to modern Irish culture, and we will ask the question, ‘is there a future for the Irish pub?’
We will have a Facebook page up shortly with which you can get friends to like and share their views. Come with us on our journey, and add to the conversation. Give us your thoughts and views, tell us your stories and reminiscences, upload old photos and videos.
Cheers.
